Description
This denim jacket is a meticulously crafted homage to 1940s workwear, reimagined with a dedication to traditional dyeing techniques and fabric authenticity. Built from the newly developed “DO1” fabric, the jacket features 6-count yarn spun with deliberate irregularity—faithfully recreating the twist and texture of vintage threads. The result is a fabric rich in depth, texture, and heritage.
What sets this piece apart is its use of kase-zome, the traditional skein-dyeing method from Tokushima. Known for its intensity and precision, this method involves dyeing and drying the yarn twenty times, layer by layer. The process, carried out without compromise, achieves a deeply saturated indigo that reflects both craftsmanship and patience.
Based on mid-century denim jackets, the silhouette preserves a classic shape while incorporating refined details, such as selvedge denim along the collar edge—an intentional nod to the fabric’s integrity and construction. This jacket isn’t just a garment; it’s a record of process, labour, and respect for denim’s enduring legacy.
